Meet the Oceanside Veterinary Hospital Staff

Kari, Hospital Manager

A San Diego County native, Kari has been involved in the veterinary profession for many years. After holding several positions at local hospitals, Kari has found a home at Oceanside Veterinary Hospital and anchors the team. She oversees all aspects of management of the hospital and helps all the doctors deal with the day to day nuances of running a veterinary practice. She is a pet advocate and dedicated individual and loves working with people and their pets. In her spare time, Kari enjoys dancing, following professional football (especially the Chargers), and spending time with her two young children when she is not working to help pet owners.

Cindy, RVT

Cindy was born in France but moved to the US when she was six and lived in San Francisco and Singapore before moving to San Diego. Cindy has a B.S. degree in Psychology from the University of San Diego and after taking some time from school, she went to work and volunteered at Helen Woodward Animal Center at their Adoption and Pet Therapy department. From there, she learned about the RVT program at Mesa College. Cindy attended Mesa and graduated with her Associate degree in Animal Science: Animal Health Technology and, afterwards, passed the State Board Examination to become an RVT. Cindy worked with Dr. Hackett at a practice in Del Mar for four years before coming to OVH. In her spare time, Cindy loves to spend time with friends, at the beach, watching movies, reading, hiking and spending time at home with her husband and two cats, Caleb and Jax.

Aida, Veterinary Assistant

Aida grew up in Lancaster CA, moved down to San Diego in 2003, and has been in the veterinary field ever since. She has two dogs, Cherry, a Jack Russell terrier and Sophie, a black pug. She got them both as puppies in 2004 and they are only four months apart. Aida also recently got a kitten who is a great addition to her fur family. Aida has always loved al animals and so it is a real pleasure to get to work with them everyday. In her off time she likes to hike with Cherry and enjoy nature and the outdoors. Aida also goes to school part-time and is studying to be a counselor.

Shante, Receptionist/Veterinary Assistant

Shante was born in Wyoming but raised in Colorado. She is married to a US Marine who was just stationed here at Camp Pendleton. Shante has two dachsunds named Tank and Diesel and recently went to school to become certified as a veterinary assistant. In her spare time, Shante enjoys hiking, biking, snowboarding, fishing and building projects with her husband.

Jenna, Receptionist

Jenna is a California native, having grown up in the Central Valley and moved to the San Diego area after she graduated high school. She has always had a passion for animals, having grown up with rescued cats and dogs her whole life. Because of this, Jenna has developed a desire to work in an environment to help more of them. In her free time, Jenna enjoys spending time with her tuxedo cat Riven, reading, writing, coloring, and video games.

Kendall, RVT

Kendall was born and raised in San Diego, California. She recently graduated with an Associate of Science degree from San Diego Mesa College’s Animal Health Technology Program and has recently passed her RVT certification exam. Kendall shares her home with five cats (Whiskey, Benson, Clyde, Moxxi, and Momma Steve), four rescued laboratory rats (Nelliel, Amumu, Waffles and Theodore), two hermit crabs (Pops and Walter), a crested gecko (Anders), and a red-footed tortoise (Trevor). In her spare time, she enjoys going on impromptu adventures, dabbling in video games, DIY projects, camping, and learning how to speak “Cat”. Meow!”

Brenna, Receptionist

Brenna grew up in Vista and still lives there. She is currently attending Mira Costa College to acquire an A.A degree in Medical Administration. Brenna loves helping animals and people; ‘If I can make someone’s day better and put a smile on their face, I will!’ Her hobbies include going to the desert, off-roading, jet skiing, hiking, and working out. She also has 6 total pets, 3 dogs (Dash, Charlie, Lola) and 3 cats (Wolf, Winston, and Bruce). Brenna has one rule she lives by… and that is to never wear matching socks because it is unlucky to do so!

Hailey, Receptionist

Haley was born and raised in Indiana. She is a military spouse and just moved here from Georgia. Hailey has two dogs at home, a redbone coonhound named Gus and a German Shepherd named Sam. Hailey has always had a passion for animals, and her dream since she was little has always been to help animals. Hailey is currently taking classes through Penn Foster College to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. In her spare time Hailey likes to read, play tennis and spend time with her family.

Brianne, Receptionist

Brianne is a small town girl who grew up in Cleveland, Texas. She got married to a United States Marine in May of 2017 and shortly after she followed him back to California. They share their home with Paul, their cat and Feather, the Great Dane! Brianne is going to school in hopes to become a lower grade level special education teacher. She really loves spending time with her husband and making trips back to Texas to visit family in her extra time.


Kayla Melson is from Cullman, Alabama and she has always had a passion for animals. Kayla is married to a Marine who is stationed on Camp Pendleton. She and her husband share two wonderful kids (Elijah and Aubrey) along with their cat Sassy and dog named Nemo. Kayla is currently taking classes at Penn Foster to become a Veterinary Technician. She loves meeting new people and enjoys helping all animals. When Kayla is not working, she loves to hike, camp, and spend time with her family and fur babies.


Sierra was born and raised in Southern California. She always knew from the start that she loved to work with animals. She started her first job at a dog daycare after graduating High School and worked there for four years before signing on with Oceanside Veterinary Hospital. Sierra also works part-time in San Diego doing hydrotherapy and rehab work with pets that are in need of physical therapy. She is very thankful for all the opportunities she have been given to work in the animal field and hopes to continue to learn and help as many pets as she can be healthy and happy.
